Hard to believe that it’s been a year since I’ve seen Tiana. The last time I saw her was when we did her pregnant photo shoot, and I’d never met Bobby.

this ambition made me tough
If it hasn’t been painfully obvious already, I’ve been busy. Even though it’s only been four days since my last entry, I think that’s the longest I’ve ever gone without writing since my month-long hiatus back in 2006. There are so many thoughts I have been putting in the back of my head to write down, so many photos I have yet to work on and post.
The big project is the house show on Saturday. This week I’m getting things ready: cleaning; buying ice, ice cream, and toppings for the ice cream bar, cups, spoons; moving furniture; creating playlists for the lounge time before the show; organizing food and sleeping arrangements for the artists; and preparing to capture the whole ideal in picture and video.
I think I’ll be able to breathe again some time in mid August. Until then, I’m working away happily, and learning to prioritize instead of doing what I feel like.
But even then, I don’t think I’ll want to stop. I’m quite enjoying these projects, or, should I say, finishing them because it means I’m productive, and there doesn’t seem to be anything more satisfying at the moment. I haven’t sat down and lost myself in a game in a while, which is strange for me. And even stranger that I’m not jonesing, as it used to be my favourite pastime, and the only one that would relax me. Most of my relaxation time now comes in little doses of quick iPhone games.
I like being busy.
But we’ll see how long that lasts.
Vegetarian Pot Luck
A chance to try new recipes and share them with others. Also, a chance to learn some dance moves so you may not feel so out-of-place the next time you’re at a Jewish wedding. I wish I had started taking pictures sooner instead of getting distracted by all the food, because there was so much of it. We sat around and ate and conversed until the sun went down, then ate some more.
I love meeting interesting people. People with something to say (in beautiful accents), and new perspectives to offer. People who are as curious about you, as you them.
I Could Be Dead Right Now
That’s what I keep thinking when I look at these pictures.
A few weekends ago, Aaron invited me to ride with him during an out-of-town cruise with his auto club. I initially accepted, until I found out that was the same day and time Frédéric and Misun were leaving Canada. So I had to turn Aaron down, since I didn’t know when I’d see them again.
That was also the day and time that it hailed for about an hour — in late spring. And on taking a turn, the hail made Aaron lose his traction. Both him, and the person driving behind him, spun out of control. The person behind hit a guard rail. Aaron went into a ditch.
The impact on the rocks was on the passenger side. Where I was going to be sitting. And it was strong enough to shatter the back windshield.
Thankfully, Aaron is alright, with the x‑rays showing that he only has tissue damage. I may not have been so lucky.
