Life is what you make it
But sometimes, you go all in, you lose on the river, and you just don’t feel like playing anymore.
I still think of you.
And how bright your hair was when you were recalling the terrible date you had last night. The guy wouldn’t stop putting himself down. “Someone’s insecure”, I said. You agreed. I only knew because I used to do the same thing (but I didn’t tell you that).
You wouldn’t stop biting your lower lip — how I wanted to stop that fidget with a kiss — and flipping that golden wave back over your head with clumsy little fingers.
As wrong as we were for each other, I still wanted to give it a try. To see what it would be like to sing with you in your car, even if you thought listening to rock gave you an edge cause you were such a girly-girl. To find out if you could ever love me as much as you love yourself.
I never asked you out cause I was too proud to make the first move. In this phase where I was tired of being the one to make the effort. Probably for the best. You’d never believe that I avoid you as much as you me. Did you ever tell him why you don’t come around anymore?
I still think of you. Then again, I think about pretty much everyone who’s been in my life from time to time, in some capacity.
You’re the only one I hate thinking of.
stability or stagnancy
I’m living a drama-free life.
____ used to tease me about my drama, convinced that I loved it because I always seemed to be creating it. But drama is just a by-product of the struggle when you’re discovering yourself and trying to become the person you’re meant to be. It’s never an easy path; otherwise, you’d already be that person.
I don’t have bad days anymore either, but I can’t tell if it’s because I’m handling things better or if I’m not challenging myself enough.
And now that there’s no more drama, it feels like I’m finished. Like there’s no next step for me to take and nowhere else to go, because I’m here. All that’s left is to enjoy this existence.
That’s not to say my life is without a touch of inner instability. I still have memories, thoughts, lust, and love, and they’re enough to fill the mind for an entire day. But now I know everything’s gonna be okay.
Now that I’m working from home full-time, I barely step outside. Living like Foul Bachelor Frog, cause yesterday’s pants are today’s pants if they have the belt in them. There’s nothing for me out there. It’s never worth the trouble anymore. I’d go out if I wasn’t so content in my comfortable home with two cats and everything I need to sing or write or create.
I’m just wondering if I’ll ever get tired of this.
Jason + Amy Wedding Day
Filmed another lovely wedding.
There were lots of fantastic little details, especially in the way people interact with their hands, but my favourite moment is when the pastor does a little tilt, mimicking the kiss between the new husband and wife.
