Table Tennis Dorks

Aaron has his thing for the snowboarding girls, the ones with the pigtails on the mountain who support the Canadian gear companies like West 49, Nick has his for longboarding girls, Jeff for the hockey girls, and Trolley for the…girls. I think the whole idea is hilarious, and chuckle to myself when I read about people like Alexandra Kosteniuk, the attractive Russian girl who became Grandmaster at the age of 13, in the papers. I always imagine chess dorks swooning over some spectacular move she makes that’s beyond my comprehension.

Then I saw Biba Golic face someone in the 2003 Killerspin competition, and realized that I’m just a table tennis dork. It’s not so much the fact that she’s a professional table tennis player, but the fact that she plays aggressively, almost unconservatively. It’s like Jonathan and his thing for drummer girls who play with an aggro-ape stance, instead of the dainty, elbows-raised posture that so many female drummers seem to have. There’s something about a girl who plays like a guy, whether it’s table tennis, drums, or even games. This is going on the updated list soon.

Table tennis dorks. I wonder if I’m the first.

The Way Harder Means Brittler, Not Stronger

I think that most guys around this time of year pull a Pablo Francisco in New York, in this area at least, when the weather really starts to go up and a lot of girls are anxious to show off their new summer clothes. I suppose that I can admit to doing the same thing at some point, but I’ve sort of lost the feeling, so they say.

So many are in halter tops and capris (ugh, capris), or other skimpy, tight clothes, and it all just seems so boring now. I might get distracted if a girl dresses with some more fucking personality instead of dressing to show skin, but overall hizzotness just doesn’t do it for me anymore. There’s gotta be a little more, a little something extra to really keep my attention.

Hopefully, that means I’m growing up, not getting more superficial.

The Deadliest Combo

So Tristan finally updated their site for the spring 2004 collection. There’s something about a girl in a dress shirt and a blazer. And if there’s no dress shirt involved, well…that’s even better.

I wonder if anyone else melts just looking at her. It’s probably just me. I can’t be blamed though. The redhead-blazer combo is deadly.

Mother I'd Like To Fool Around With

It seems like I’m running into more and more attractive, older women lately. By older, I mean older. Like Julianne Moore or Jodie Foster around-40-but-still-attractive older.

I try to explain this to Trolley, and he gives me the squinted eyes look, as if he’s thinking, “Forty? Did he just say forty? Maybe he meant fourteen. But that’s even worse! Where’s my beer?”

I think it just comes from the fact that these women are still physically attractive at a stage in their lives that’s generally not associated with that sort of thing. I can appreciate the fact that they keep in shape at their age, even after they’ve had kids. I suppose that it’s a bit of a correlation, that they’re willing to work on such things for their husbands, and that’s what stands out to me. Maybe I’m just sick of the girls I meet that are my age.
