Autumn Calm

Posted in: Daily Life | Tags: ,

It is night and the city is hushed. Armed with my BR hoodie and my Moon Mix, I stepped into the refreshing night air, a brilliant full moon jutting out from the sky above.

Don't Look

Posted in: Thoughts | Tags: ,

The idea that social peacocking occurs seasonally has recently been brought up. My friend and I both agreed that winter is the time for males to wear their nicer, thicker clothes in order to emphasize their shoulders or face or even class. Summer, on the other hand, is the time females show skin and curves. Thus, appeal becomes a seasonally based idea. Both sexes, following evolutionary instincts, are attracted to figures and faces.

Another thing to consider is the fact that girls are commonly born with the appealing curvy shape, whereas guys are born without strong muscular definition. This causes the emphasis of the male appeal to lie strongly on the face, and revealing clothes become less important.

On cruising the summer streets, my friend told me that he hoped girls have as hard a time keeping their eyes straight during the winter as guys do in the summer, assuming that the above is true. I realized that what I find appealing is more common in the winter, which is quite the opposite of the believed norm. I’m more of a face person than anything, and a nice turtleneck, suit, or dragging skirt makes me notice someone of the opposite sex more than tank tops or tight jeans.

I’m rarely one who is caught checking someone out since I don’t really care enough to become fixated on boobies. Darren tells me that he commonly notices other guys staring at the racy little blond walking by, but just as before, it’s not something that I notice. We both agreed that the worst case is catching old men tilting their heads for an ass-check. How terrible would it be to find out that one’s grandfather is an ass man?

It makes me wonder whether girls also leer at guys in the same disgusting fashion or maybe they are much more subtle. Perhaps some girls do have a hard time in the winter.

I’m sure that guys would like to know.

Blue Linen Pants, and Super Troopers

Posted in: Daily Life | Tags: ,

I bought a pair of dark blue linen pants from America two weeks ago during one of Aaron’s shifts, and have been wearing them ever since. They have to be the most comfortable pair of anything I’ve ever bought. I’ve also been looking for a black collar, but nothing has really been turning up; stores usually only sell cuffs of the spiked or non-spiked variety.

My download of Super Troopers finished yesterday and I finally got a chance to watch it. I was expecting more humour, but the humour that was there was definitely of the gut busting, side-splitting variety.

The Fourth Day

Posted in: Daily Life | Tags: , , ,

Four consecutive writing days in a row. Balls.

Pat called me yesterday to see how I was doing. How fucking amazing is that? When I found out, the back of my nose felt tightly congested, and the rims of my eyes started to tingle. I need to be more like Pat. I realized yesterday that he’s like my preacher; he’s the only one I can talk to without fearing judgment or embarrassment. It’s not that my other friends aren’t understanding, it’s that Pat is able to see the motivations that drive the actions one does, without worrying about whether the consequences are for better or worse. He’s able to see the good in many people, and I guess that I need to be reminded that I have some good in me on occasion.

I think I need boobs. I bought a turtleneck during a boxing day sale. I found it on a table stacked with other motley piles of clothes, in the middle of the store, for 50% off. I didn’t try it on, since the lines for the change rooms were ridiculously long. I got home and tried it on, and it felt a little…large. I tried to shrink it in the wash, but it only slightly worked, because it still fit in an odd way. I realized today that it might be a girls’ turtleneck, and that the extra room in it might be for a healthy rack. I’m not completely sure, because I’ve never tried on what I know to be a girls’ turtleneck, and the beige colour isn’t particularly feminine. I suppose I could try to return it since it hasn’t been worn yet, and hasn’t been (noticeably) washed, but I’d rather have the boobs.

I’ve tried to change the date and time coding in PHP, so that it more accurately represents when the entries were written, but no such luck. The server this is hosted on is located in Hong Kong, which is about 13 hours ahead, so all the entries seem like they’re written 13 hours into the future. I found out how to edit the values of the date and time, but only when it’s from a current timestamp, and not when it’s being retrieved from a database. I might just try to figure out a way around everything if I really feel the need to have accurate numbers.

I think that I stop reading during particularly stressful school terms. My free time alone is generally divided between gaming and reading, and when I need some stress relief then gaming is just able to deliver much better. As Doug and I discussed, we’re able to lose ourselves, to just let go of everything else and be completely absorbed. Sometimes my stress will spill over though, and I’ll feel the need to write.
