Fatness In Stereo

Thumbnail: Large Dolly in stereo

I’ve tried many times to capture the actual size of Dolly’s current girth, but the camera doesn’t really do a good job of it. I figured that the only way to accurately show how large she’s gotten is with stereoscopic images. That way, one can actually tell how much Dolly is coming off the couch with a bit of depth perception. It’s never easy to take stereoscopic pictures of a cat. Usually they’ll move or twitch when the alternating photo is being taken, so it almost always has to be done while they’re asleep. Even a twitch of the camera strap, or a shuffling of feet will be enough to pique the curiosity of a cat

Dolly’s head looks small in comparison to the rest of her body, but her head is actually normal for a cat her age, and it’s her pot belly that’s grown out of proportion. Every time someone comes over, I usually get a comment on how much she’s grown. Outward.

Some more pictures of Aaron and Karen’s kitten, Chaos, taken one sunny Sunday morning when Aaron and I met to work on a business plan. I think he was off showering before we headed out for bubtea, and as I sat at the table with Chaos at my feet, I noticed that the light from the windows made his fur glow. I had only captured the kitty on (digital) film once before, a few months prior. One can already see how his features will develop when he’s older, with the long, slender body, and the aloofness of the nose.

Chaos: An Introduction

Thumbnail: Curious Chaos

Last week, Aaron and Karen got a nine-week old kitten, named Chaos. I had the pleasure of checking up on him over the weekend. He was extremely nervous about meeting me at first, but he eventually warmed up enough to play with a mousie that I once bought for Dolly. I can already start to see parts of his personality coming through; he’s a little shy, but really enjoys human attention, and can spend hours just batting things around.

The Cat On The Couch

Nala has been coming into my room when Loo is here. I think she trusts girls more and might even go so far as to be curious about them, possibly because it was Kate who adopted her. For the first time this morning she accepted food from me. It was a Whiskas Beef Temptations.

A Trip To Aaron's

The weekend was hectic. Went home with Aaron to visit his parents. I spent two days at his house, along with Karen and Chris, and six cats. The cats have their own hierarchy, with the brother (same litter) of the oldest cat being the alpha male (Aaron believes that there was a challenge because the oldest cat used to be the alpha male). When the alpha male decides to eat, the other cats will part and let him eat first. Otherwise, the cats pair themselves off for sleeping and exploring.

I also went to Jono’s wedding, which was nice and simple. Jonathan’s vow was…sublime. It was an amazingly well written piece, full of a thoughtful intelligence, and his cracking voice could barely contain his overflowing happiness as he read it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for the reception, but the most important thing for me was being at the ceremony.

Every other moment was spent with Loo.
