My goal is to evoke emotion from the viewer. I want every photograph to become an interactive piece of art that challenges one to examine the way he or she views the world. Satisfaction comes from knowing that a person is changed before they walk away from my work.
To do this, I make my work unique but accessible. I use colours to their fullest potential, I mix textures to draw attention, I compose to precisely say what I want, and I use depth-of-field to lead the viewer in.
I'm currently exploring the use of contrasting elements to challenge our ideas of esthetics. I want to bring to attention the paradox that destruction, decay, and pain can give us beauty, growth, and joy.
Driven by a need for expression but feeling limited by the medium of the written word, Jeff Ngan took up photography as a way to better document the world around him. He is constantly inspired by every day life, and the hidden beauty that lies within the things around us. His subjects cover a wide variety of photographic styles; from macros to landscapes, portraits to candids, and nature to food.
