A couple of shots (no pun intended) from Trolley’s birthday celebration, also marking my first forray into the digital SLR camera world. I had no idea how much was involved in photography until I started going fully manual (quite a change from my simple point-and-shoot Elph), but just trying to achieve what’s “technically” correct has made me appreciate both what the professionals go through and what the artists try to express.
i love manual settings. there is a bad side though: i keep going manual on my dinky canon a75, a camera primarily intended for point and shoot purposes. because i end up taking a good five minutes to set up my shot, people get impatient and tell me to hurry the fuck up and think i’m taking that five minutes to figure out where the power button is. i then prove them all wrong by taking gorgeously awesome shots, and then they feel bad. it’s great.
I had to build a rep with people I like to film too. Of course, it took some faith on their part at first, but I think they’re much more accepting of the cameras I stick in their faces now. Especially since I almost always have some sort of camera around.
